Last updated:
These Terms & Conditions apply to the Dog & Drive New Defender Demo operated by Dog & Drive International Ltd (“Dog & Drive”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Please read these Terms carefully before booking. By placing a booking and paying the security deposit, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms.
1. About this Demo
1.1 This Demo is a short-term posted demo of Dog & Drive dog steps. It is not a sale of the steps.
1.2 This Demo is available only for the new-shape / latest-style Land Rover Defender confirmed by you at the time of booking.
1.3 The steps remain the property of Dog & Drive at all times.
1.4 The purpose of the Demo is to allow you to assess the suitability and use of the steps with your vehicle and dog before making any separate purchase decision.
1.5 This Demo is offered for the UK market only and is available only within our standard mainland Great Britain delivery area. It is not available for Northern Ireland or offshore islands, including but not limited to the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Isles of Scilly, Scottish islands, and other non-standard courier locations. We may refuse, reschedule or cancel bookings outside that area.

3.5 Your booking is subject to acceptance by Dog & Drive. We may contact you after booking to confirm vehicle compatibility, delivery details, suitability for your dog, and return arrangements.

- your full name
- email address

4.2 You confirm that the vehicle stated in your booking is the new-shape / latest-style Land Rover Defender and that the details you provide are accurate.
4.3 If you provide incorrect, incomplete or misleading information, we may:
- delay or cancel the Demo
- refuse delivery
- reschedule delivery or collection
- charge you for any actual additional courier cost and any reasonable, documented administrative cost directly caused as a result
5. Demo period
5.1 The Demo period is 4 days, starting the day after the agreed delivery date.
5.2 Collection will usually be arranged for the day after your fourth day, subject to weekend timing, courier availability and any agreed variation.
5.3 We will confirm the delivery date and collection arrangement with you after booking.
5.4 You must keep the steps available and ready for collection on the agreed collection date.
6. Delivery and return collection
6.1 We provide free outbound delivery and free return collection for the Demo, subject to these Terms and only within our standard mainland Great Britain delivery area.
6.2 Delivery and collection will be arranged to the address confirmed with you.
6.3 You are responsible for ensuring that:
- the delivery address is accurate
- someone is available to receive the steps if required
- someone is available, or access is available, for agreed collection
6.4 If delivery cannot be completed, or collection cannot take place, because the address is incorrect, no one is available where this is required, access is not available, the parcel is not ready, or you otherwise fail to comply with the agreed arrangements, we may rearrange delivery or collection and charge you the actual re-delivery or re-collection cost and any reasonable, documented administrative cost directly caused by the failed attempt.
6.5 Any such amount may be deducted from the security deposit or invoiced separately.
6.6 You must inspect the steps promptly on receipt and before first use. If you believe any part is missing, damaged, defective or unsafe, you must notify Dog & Drive as soon as reasonably possible and stop using the steps until we have responded.
7. Installation instructions and use
7.1 Installation instructions will be provided with the Demo steps.
7.2 You must read and follow all installation, fitting, use, care and return instructions provided by Dog & Drive.
7.3 The Demo steps must only be used:
- on the vehicle confirmed in your booking
- for normal private domestic use
- in accordance with the instructions provided
7.4 You must not:
- use the steps on any other vehicle
- modify, adapt or tamper with the steps
- overload, misuse or abuse the steps
- lend, hire out, sell, dispose of or part with possession of the steps
- remove, alter or obscure any identifying marks, labels or serial references
8. Your responsibilities while the steps are with you
8.1 While the Demo steps are in your possession or control, you are responsible for taking reasonable care of them.
8.2 You must keep the steps safe, secure, dry and protected from avoidable damage.
8.3 You must notify us promptly if the steps are damaged, lost, stolen, not functioning properly, or involved in any incident that may affect their condition or safety.
8.4 If the steps are lost or stolen, you must notify Dog & Drive immediately. Where theft is suspected, you must also report it to the police without delay and provide a crime reference number as soon as reasonably possible.
8.5 You must stop using the steps immediately if you become aware of any fault, damage or safety concern and contact us without delay.
9. Inspection and condition on return
9.1 We may inspect the steps before dispatch, on return, and where reasonably necessary during any investigation into loss, damage or non-return.
9.2 You must return the steps complete, including any parts, fittings, packaging and materials that were supplied with them, subject to normal permitted wear from proper demo use.
9.3 We will not charge you for ordinary and reasonable wear resulting from proper use during the Demo period.
9.4 If the steps are returned damaged beyond normal wear, incomplete, altered, improperly packaged where this causes damage, or in a condition inconsistent with proper use, we may deduct from the security deposit, or charge you separately, the reasonable cost of repair, replacement, missing parts, cleaning, packaging replacement, inspection, courier handling or other loss directly caused.
10. Late return, failed collection and non-return
10.1 If the steps are not made available for collection on the agreed date, or are otherwise returned late, we may charge actual additional courier costs, reasonable, documented administrative costs directly caused by the delay, and any other reasonable loss directly caused by the delay.
10.2 If the steps are not returned at all, or we are unable to recover them after reasonable attempts, you may be liable for the security deposit being retained and the balance of the reasonable replacement cost and any directly related loss, less any amount already retained from the security deposit.
10.3 Your liability for damage, loss, incomplete return or failure to return the steps is not limited to the amount of the security deposit. If the reasonable cost of repair, replacement or other loss exceeds the security deposit, you remain liable for the balance.
10.4 We will not automatically keep the whole security deposit in every case. Any retention or further charge will reflect the loss, cost or damage actually and reasonably incurred.
10.5 If the steps are not returned, we may take legal action to recover the steps themselves where appropriate and/or the financial loss caused by non-return.
11. Security deposit refunds
11.1 Subject to these Terms, we will refund the security deposit to the original payment method after the steps have been returned, inspected and checked.
11.2 If no deductions are required, we aim to process the refund within 10 working days after inspection.
11.3 If deductions are required, we will provide a reasonable explanation of the amount retained or charged.
11.4 If the reasonable cost of damage, loss, missing parts, late return, failed collection, re-delivery, re-collection or other breach exceeds the security deposit, you remain liable for the balance.
12. Your right to cancel
12.1 If you book this Demo online, you may have the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
12.2 If you wish to cancel, please contact us at [email protected] and clearly state that you wish to cancel the booking. You may use the model cancellation form set out below, but you do not have to.
12.3 If you cancel before dispatch, we will refund the security deposit in full.
12.4 If you cancel after dispatch or after delivery, your refund position will depend on the timing of cancellation, whether the steps have been delivered, whether the Demo has begun, and your statutory rights. You must still take reasonable care of the steps and make them available for prompt return or collection.
12.5 We may make any deduction or retain any amount only where we are legally entitled to do so, including for loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the steps, or for other sums properly due under these Terms.
12.6 Nothing in these Terms limits any cancellation or refund rights you have under applicable law.
13. If the steps are faulty or not as described
13.1 We are required by law to provide goods that are as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these Terms.
13.2 If you believe the steps are faulty, damaged on arrival, unsafe, or not as described, please stop using them and contact us as soon as possible.
13.3 Where the law gives you a remedy, we will deal with the issue in accordance with your statutory rights.
14. Safety and responsibility
14.1 You must ensure that the steps are fitted, used, stored and returned safely and properly while they are in your possession.
14.2 To the extent permitted by law, Dog & Drive is not responsible for loss or damage arising from incorrect installation, incorrect fitting or removal by you or any third party acting on your behalf, misuse or use contrary to instructions, use on a vehicle other than the vehicle confirmed at booking, unauthorised modification, neglect, improper handling or improper storage after delivery, or failure to stop using the steps after a fault, damage or safety issue becomes apparent.
14.3 Dog & Drive is not responsible for damage to your vehicle arising from incorrect installation, incorrect use, unauthorised modification, or failure to follow the instructions provided, except where such damage is caused by our negligence or by the steps not conforming to the contract.
15. Liability
15.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
15.2 Subject to clause 15.1, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss or damage caused by your breach of these Terms, your failure to follow instructions, incorrect installation, use, removal, storage or return, use on an incompatible vehicle, unauthorised modification or misuse, or events outside our reasonable control.
15.3 Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
16. Complaints and contact
16.1 If you have a question, issue or complaint about the Demo, please contact:
Email: [email protected]
16.2 Please include your name, booking details and a brief description of the issue so that we can assist you more quickly.
17. Privacy
17.1 We use your personal data to administer the Demo, including booking, contact, delivery, collection, inspection, payment handling, customer service and enforcement of these Terms where necessary.
17.2 We may share relevant personal data with service providers who help us operate the Demo, including payment processors and courier providers.
17.3 Our full Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, retain and protect your personal data, and your rights in relation to it. It is available on our website at the Privacy Policy page.
17.4 By booking, you acknowledge that you have had access to our Privacy Policy.
18. Changes, suspension and cancellation by us
18.1 We may make reasonable changes to the Demo process where necessary for operational, safety, legal or courier reasons.
18.2 We may suspend, refuse, reschedule or cancel a booking where reasonably necessary, including where the booking is not suitable for your vehicle, the address or booking details cannot be verified, there is suspected fraud or misuse, there is a safety concern, or delivery or collection cannot reasonably be performed.
18.3 If we cancel your booking before the Demo begins for reasons not caused by your breach, we will refund the security deposit in full.
19. General
19.1 If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the Terms will continue in force.
19.2 Any delay or failure by us to enforce any right under these Terms does not waive that right.
19.3 These Terms form the agreement between you and Dog & Drive in relation to the Demo, together with any information that must legally form part of the contract.
20. Governing law and jurisdiction
20.1 These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
20.2 Any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Demo will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, save that if you are entitled to bring a claim in another part of the UK under applicable consumer law, this clause does not remove that right.
